| 1993-1995 NA and 1995 TT uses 16-bit memory. Different processors: 8-bits are hitachi 6303s, 16-bits are Mitsu 7790s. The 8-bit ECUs are 32K programs and the 16-bits are 64K. There are differences in the programming and how some maps are used. There is no functional advantage between the 8-bit or 16-bit models - they both do the same things, have the same number of I/O, etc. Given that a daughterboard has to be used on the 16-bit model to allow external memory to be used, I took advantage of this in the design of the board to allow a 2-program switch as the EPROMs I'm using can contain two programs.
